We have been successful in winning funds of over £56k for public engagement at the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s Connected Communities Festival in July 2014. The festival will showcase the diverse range of projects in the Connected Communities programme and is being held in Cardiff this year. Our project will be involved in several activities and events which we hope will demonstrate our approach and methodologies as well as provoking discussion about some of the issues we are exploring. We are working with National Theatre Wales to hold an ‘Assembly’, which is a performance debate around a particular question, in our case study area of Butetown. From Representing North Merthyr, we are holding a ‘mobile exhibition’ of banners old and new, marching from Cardiff city centre to Cardiff Bay, along with singing and dance performances. We also have an interactive project stand where each case study will display films or other media relating to their community. The festival takes place on 1-2 July 2014 at St David’s Hotel as well as some virtual and ‘fringe’ locations.
