Creative and Participatory Methods

In Representing North Merthyr we have been using a range of creative and participatory methods to explore health and wellbeing with multi-generational groups. Alongside the more innovative and creative methods we have been using, we have also conducted a set of more traditional qualitative interviews with working-age participants. We asked people about their everyday lives, their community, and health and wellbeing, in order to build a picture of life in North Merthyr. We heard a diverse mix of stories, with certain common threads woven together into a patchwork of stories, experiences and attitudes. We used thematic content analysis to understand and organise the data, and created some posters of the key themes that resulted from the analysis. These are presented below:
